This Macedonian traditional tasty dish will win you with its unique taste. It is prepared relatively quickly and many are preparing this dish for Easter. Yogurtlitava looks great when served in cubes, and can serve as a lunch prepared for special occasion in the family. It's usually prepared in combination with lamb, but it's also delicious prepared with veal or beef or even without meat.
The name "yogurtlitava" arrives from the words"yogurt" and "tava"literally meaning "pan with yogurt".

The name "yogurtlitava" arrives from the words"yogurt" and "tava"literally meaning "pan with yogurt".
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice (if more than 4 people, put more rice and proportion of rice and water. 1 cup of rice = 2 cups of water)
- 5-6 eggs
- 500 ml yogurt
- spices (vegeta, salt, black pepper)
- 1 chopped onion
- lamb, beef or veal (if prepared with meat)
*1 cup size is 250 ml cup
Preparation:
- If prepared with meat, meat is prepared separately Boil meat (it should not be fully cooked because it will simmer later), then cut into pieces, fry each piece on both sides to catch some color, then add some water and wine, spices to taste and leave shortly to simmer. We prepare beef and veal this way. If you're preparing lamb, then first boil the meat, then put in the oven to bake shortly with a little oil, water and spices.
- Preparing of the rice Fry chopped onion in a pan, add rice and fry until grains start to divide from each other. Add dried mixed vegetables, salt and pepper, 2 cups of water (in which meat was cooked) and leave till it boils with occasional stirring.
- Pour on top mixture of eggs and yogurt, add a little salt and pepper if desired. Put to bake in preheated oven at 220 C degrees as you bake ordinary rice pan. When it gets a beautiful golden color and the liquid evaporates, remove from oven.
- Cut into large cubes and serve one cube along with a piece of meat in a plate. Serve with spring onions if available.
- I recommend a glass of wine with this dish.
Enjoy!
