This is a perfect recipe for sekerpare. I have one more recipe for sekerpare, but I think this one is better. Just a little reminder that Åžekerpare is one of the most popular desserts in the Turkish
cuisine, also very popular in Macedonia. You can buy serekpare in old
bazaars mostly in the pastry shops owned by Turkish people. Mainly it is
prepared by baking soft balls of flour and semolina dough, decorated
with almond or hazelnut in the middle and then dipped
in sugar syrup. Sekerpare means sugar (seker)
piece (pare). Out of this quantity, I got 30 pieces.
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup semolina
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 fresh yeast (10 g)
- just a pinch of baking powder
- 1 sachet vanilla sugar
- hazelnuts as needed (in the end)
For syrup:
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
*cup size is 250 ml
Preparation:
Preparation:
- Beat the egg with a mixer, then add the rest of the ingredients and mix. At the end, knead the dough shortly with hand.
- Take a little dough, make a small ball, then press it light with your palm and align on the baking tray. Repeat the procedure until all dough is finished. Place a hazelnut in the middle of each.
- Leave to rise for 30 minutes then put to bake at 180 C degrees for about 30 minutes or more. They need to get a beautiful color and to harden a bit.
- While cookies are baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water and sugar for 10 minutes. When done, leave to cool.
- After cookies are baked, pour them with cooled syrup and leave to soak. They will soak the syrup very quickly and be ready for eating very soon.
