DYEING EGGS WITH ONION SKIN

In the past, people used natural materials for painting Easter eggs. These were mainly herbs and vegetables, as well as leaves of certain types of trees (cherry, oak ...).
You have the most beautiful organic colours for your eggs in your home, you just need to be creative to get some props up to you and enjoy the whole process.
Dyeing of Easter eggs is one of the most beautiful rituals in the home that everyone enjoys - both small and elderly, and after the labor involved in the table, the housewife's skill can be seen.

When dyeing eggs with onion peel, it is very important to soak the peel in the same water in which you will paint the eggs at least a few hours earlier in order to release color. We used the skin from yellow onions here. Can you imagine it gave this beautiful red color?

For this recipe you need:
  • 10  eggs
  • skin of 1-2 kg of onions (yellow and red mixed)
  • water to cover the eggs nicely
  • 2 tablespoons of white acid
Preparation:
  1. In the water with onion skin, add acid and put the eggs. We add acid to avoid eggs cracking. Bring to boil and let them boil together for 15 minutes at low heat.
  2. You can remove them from the hot water immediately, depending on the intensity of gotten color or leave them in a refrigerator in the same liquid overnight in order to get stronger color. You can also reuse the same water for dyeing more eggs.
