I never thought that homemade ice cream could be as the one we buy, I even thought it could not even come close to the taste, so I've never really tried. But I was very wrong. After my successful strawberry ice cream, I tried this one with my favorite hazelnut and chocolate flavor, and I have to say it's perfect. Honestly, I don't think I'll be buying ice cream this summer :).
Ingredients:
- 2 cups high-fat milk
- 1 cup whipping cream (200 ml)
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
- 200 g of roasted skinless hazelnuts
- 200 g milk chocolate
- half a cup of whipping cream
- Put the egg yolks in a saucepan with the sugar and mix well with a mixer until creamy and light mixture is obtained.
- Add the milk and whipping cream and place the saucepan on a hot plate at medium heat to almost boiling point, not to boil. Whisk with the mixer all the time. It will take about 15 minutes. When the mixture starts to thicken slightly and remains on the back of a wooden spoon, then it is ready. Put the whole pot in a sink full of cold water and let it cool.
- Put 150 g of slightly roasted hazelnuts in a blender to mix well and add this mixture to the milk mixture. When it cools down nicely, transfer it to a suitable container and put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
- Then heat half a cup of whipping cream, add the chocolate and melt it.
- Add this mixture through the milk mixture from the freezer, and add the remaining crushed hazelnuts on top.
- Allow a few hours to freeze nicely. I guarantee you that you haven't eaten a nicer hazelnut-chocolate ice cream.
