Delicious and aromatic flat bread, soft inside and crispy on the outside. The recipe is inspired by the Arabic cuisine. When I visited Egypt about 10 years ago, I tried something similar in the middle of the Sahara desert and I still remember the taste. This flat bread reminded me of my trip.
Ingredients:
- 10 g of fresh yeast,
- 250 g of flour,
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- half a tablespoon of sugar,
- 100 ml of yogurt,
- 80 ml of lukewarm water,
- a tablespoon of oil,
- butter for coating
Preparation:
- Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
- Mix the flour, then take out 2 tablespoons aside. Add sugar, salt, water, yogurt and finally the melted yeast to the flour.
- Mix by hand or with a mixer with the dough attachments. When you mix the ingredients well, the mixture will be sticky and not solid, then gradually add the remaining 2 tablespoons of flour and knead a nice soft and smooth dough. Form a ball, cover with oil and cover with plastic wrap for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Then transfer the dough to a floured surface, sprinkle with flour and knead the dough a little.
- Divide it into 4 parts that you will shape into balls.
- Leave them covered for 20 minutes.
- Then, with your hands or a rolling pin, spread each ball the size of a crust as big as the pan in which you will bake.
- Leave them to rest for another 10 minutes.
- Then bake them one by one in a heated pan.
- Leave to bake on one side for about 1 minute and then turn over. When they are nicely baked on both sides, take them out and coat them with butter.
- They are delicious so you can eat them without anything or as an addition to the main dish.
