I made a similar cake a week ago when I made my daughter's birthday muffins. Then instead of croissants, I used crushed muffins and got a beautiful and delicious cake that we ate in 2 days and then, I was asked to make it again. I decided to make it with croissants this time. Cream bananas also give a beautiful taste. I give you another suggestion below in the recipe if you can't find cream bananas in your country Basically, you don't need to stick to the recipe, use your imagination - as always. You can see in the given ingredients and the way of preparation that you can freely experiment, I know I always do, so it's very hard for me to repeat a recipe sometimes :) Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Base
- 4 large croissants with chocolate filling cut into pieces
- 6 pieces of cream bananas (Krem Banana 20g, Chocolate Covered Banana Flavored Dessert) if not available in your place, use about 120 grams of jaffa cookies
- 3-4 chocolate bars of your choice cut into pieces (I used kit-kat, chocolate with biscuit and chocolate wafers) (about 5 oz)
- 500 ml heavy cream (2 cups)
- 120 g of cooking chocolate (4.2 oz)
- 50 g butter (1.7 oz)
Glaze
- 80 g of cooking chocolate (2.8 oz)
- 50 g butter (1.7 oz)
- whipped cream for decoration+red food color
Preparation:
- The preparation is as simple as possible, cut the croissants, cream bananas and chocolates into pieces and put them in a deeper bowl.
- Heat the heavy cream (cooking cream), add 120 g of chocolate and butter, mix until the chocolate is completely melted. Pour the hot cream over the chopped mixture of croissants and chocolates, mix well. Then, in the heart shaped mold lined with nylon foil, pour the whole mixture, level it and put it in the fridge for a few hours to cool down and harden. Before adding the glaze, the cake is turned over on a serving plate and the foil is removed.
- Then add the glaze made of melted chocolate and butter. Distribute evenly over the cake and leave to cool, then decorate as desired. I decorated with white chocolate and whipped cream to which I added food red color.
- The cake is delicious, my husband adores it.
