If you're into chocolate desserts, then, this is a recipe for you. 90% of desserts I make are chocolate flavored and with dark appearance. This one is easy to make and has a strong chocolate cake taste, kind of reminds me of the famous sacher cake.
Ingredients:
For the sponge cake
- 5 eggs
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 6 tablespoons oil
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 6 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 packet of baking powder (12 grams or 2 full teaspoons)
- Using a mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar for several minutes.
- Add the oil, milk, water and mix.
- Then, gradually add sifted cocoa, sifted flour and baking powder and mix with a wooden spoon. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into non stick tray 25x35 cm.
- Bake in preheated oven at 180 C (350 F) degrees for about 25 minutes. Check with a toothpick if the cake is ready.
Syrup
- 250 ml of water (1 cup)
- 5 tablespoons sugar
Bring to boil for several minutes and pour the cold baked sponge cake with the syrup.
Choco glaze
- 500 ml heavy cream (2 cups)
- 300 g of dark chocolate (10.5 oz)
- Heat to a low temperature, mix well to get an even structure. Then, cool for a few minutes and pour above the sponge cake.
- Cool the cake in the refrigerator.
- After cooling, cut in cubes and serve.
