These hazelnut nests are easy to prepare, and so delicious that you won't be able to stop at just one. They’re the perfect treat to add to your dessert table, whether you’re preparing a variety of cakes or making them as a standalone dessert. For guaranteed smiles, I suggest doubling the recipe!
Ingredients
Mixture:
- 100 ml water
- 100 g sugar
- 70 g butter
- 100 g chocolate
- 130 g ground biscuit
- 120 g ground roasted hazelnuts
Decoration:
- 150 g fried chopped hazelnuts
- 100 g Nutella (or similar chocolate spread)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Base Mixture:
- In a small pot, combine water, sugar, and or butter.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until the margarine and sugar melt and the mixture is smooth.
2. Melt the Chocolate:
- Remove the pot from the heat and immediately add the chocolate.
- Stir until the chocolate melts completely and is fully incorporated into the mixture.
3. Combine with Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, mix the ground biscuits and ground roasted hazelnuts.
- Gradually pour the warm chocolate mixture over the dry ingredients.
- Stir until you achieve a dough-like consistency.
4. Shape the Nests:
- Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls (about the size of a walnut).
- Roll each ball in fried chopped hazelnuts to coat the outside evenly.
- Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to gently press the center of each ball, forming a “nest” shape.
5. Add the Nutella Filling:
- Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill the center of each nest with Nutella.
6. Set and Serve:
- Place the finished hazelnut nests in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to set.
- Serve chilled and enjoy!
Storage:
Keep the hazelnut nests in an airtight container in the fridge. They will stay fresh for up to a week.
Notes:
- For a richer flavor, you can use high-quality dark chocolate.
- If you prefer a different nutty taste, ground walnuts can substitute for part of the hazelnuts.
Enjoy your creation and share it with your loved ones!
